Playoffs Schedule
Despite losing its last game of the regular season to Prestige Elite, Maintain finished first with a 6-1 record and will get a first-round bye in the King of Kings men’s summer basketball playoffs that begin on Tuesday evening at Notre Dame.
The women’s division playoffs start Monday evening at Notre Dame. Gaga Ladies won the women’s division and with the second place Upstate Ballers get a bye in the first round.
Men’s playoffs start at 6:45 on Tuesday at Notre Dame with the third-place Gunnas facing sixth-place Greater Grace. The second game at 8:00 has second-place Prestige Elite against seventh-place PJ’s All-Stars. On Thursday, fourth-place Pass.Da.Rock will play fifth-place Dynasty at 7:30 at Notre Dame.
The women’s opener on Monday at 6:30 has third-place Bomb Squad versus sixth-place Lady Warriors. That will be followed by the fourth-place CNY All-Stars against fith-place Utica Select.
The men’s and women’s semi-finals and finals will be held at Herkimer County Community College on Friday evening. The women’s games will be at 5:30 and 6:45, followed by the men’s semi-finals at 8:00 and 9:15. On Sunday, the women’s final is at 3:00 and the men’s at 5:00.
Maintain had been undefeated and had easily won all of its games before falling to Prestige Elite, 93-90, in overtime Thursday night. Maintain has been led in scoring during the season by league MVP Sean Burton, who was a Division 3 All-America at Ithaca College, SUNYIT’s Dave Golembiowski (SUNYIT) and Siena College three-point field goal and free-throw shooting record holder Scott Knapp.
The Gaga Ladies include league MVP and Utica College standout Jessica Berry and Nikki Jo Rotolo, both of Rome, as well as two women who play for Ithaca College, Katherine Bixby and Eissa Klie.
